Maryland Animal Advocates, Inc. (MAA) is an all-volunteer charitable organization.
We rescue homeless cats in the geographical area from Timonium to Annapolis, MD. We provide Outdoor Roaming Cat Management for feral cat colonies in Baltimore City.
We provide limited foster homes for tame cats to be adopted and we display our available cats and kittens at PetSmart Goucher Blvd Towson MD 21286,
We also have adoption accounts at www.petfinder.com and www.adoptapet.com.
We are utilizing three veterinary clinics: Academy Animal Hospital for animals requiring medical care; For routine reproductive sterilization we often use: MDSPCA 3300 Falls Rd and ABC Animal Birth Control LLC 410-729-4342 8424 Veterans Hghwy Millersville, MD.
Dick & Ray provide medical care for the rescues in Anne Arundel County.
Many abandoned cats return to a wild state when left outside for a long duration. Mommy cats can bear kittens who never know a human home. These two groups are often call "feral" or "free-roaming" cats. Whenever possible we transition these cats to a private property setting where they have safe shelter and daily care. However, responsible families with these barns and sheds are difficult to locate. In those cases, we practice TTVARM- Trap, Test, Vaccinate, Alter, Release and Manage. MAA provides complete veterinary care for these cats. We maintain these troupes of cats in their home area. These are called "feral colonies." MAA provides complete veterinary care for every individual from medical tests to baths, sterilization and vaccination. These troupes are visited everyday for feed and monitoring.
MAA is a membership corporation open to the public. An elected Board of Directors consisting of five organization members governs our policies, operations and finances.
From the beginning, MAA wished to embrace an egalitarian spirit among people. MAA does not have a president but, instead, has an Executive Committee consisting of three members of the Board. We have only two Officers: Secretary and Treasurer. Our by-laws prohibit Board Members from receiving a salary or wages paid by MAA.

an invaluable service to Anne Arundel County. He has served
continually since 1995 as a volunteer with the SPCA-AA. Ray
is a retired public high school teacher. He has included 16
of his rescues in his immediate family.
Our organization was formed on July 16, 1994 when a small group of animal protection activists held a leafleting evening in Little Italy, Baltimore City. We spoke with pedestrians concerning the plight of young calves who spend their short lives chained in wooden stalls. These little cows soon become veal.
With this modest activity, a group of eighteen people met at The Animals' Agenda Magazine in Canton, Baltimore City on August 13, 1994 and agreed to formally incorporate Maryland Animal Advocates. The purpose was to educate the general public regarding the natural kingdom and the challenges of our world. We chartered the organization in the State of Maryland on August 23, 1994.
Once the Corporation was chartered, we applied for I.R.S. status as a publicly supported charitable organization. On June 25, 1995 we were extended the Five year Advance Ruling Period Status as a 501( c ) 3 organization. In September 1999, We re-applied and were granted Permanent 501 ( c ) 3 Status.
